Thank you for your interest in becoming our new Chief Executive.
The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) is an independent charity dedicated to improving and protecting people’s health– both in the United Kingdom and around the world. As a broadly-based membership organisation, we have a wide range of activities from high profile campaigning, and policy activity through to education and training.
Our current Chief Executive, Shirley Cramer CBE, is leaving the organisation after seven successful years in post during which we have established a greatly enhanced public profile, increased membership and reputation.
We are now seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking leader to take us to the next stage of our journey. This is a role for someone who will challenge our way of seeing things and who brings a personal enthusiasm and passion for ensuring that public health remains high on the agenda and in the public eye. Your strong and resilient leadership will be paramount in managing a highly professional, tightknit and dedicated senior leadership team and workforce.
We work with a wide range of stakeholders across public health including, public sector bodies, government and charities, as well as partnering with a variety of campaigning groups and alliances.
You will bring a proven ability to build strong and lasting relationships at all levels across a range of complex organisations. Strong political acumen and influencing skills are essential for this role as you will be required to engage and influence policymakers at both a local and national level and deal with the media both nationally and internationally.
You will bring experience of providing strong financial oversight to ensure our financial wellbeing, as well as developing existing and new income streams as we seek to grow.
You will demonstrate ability to successfully apply for and oversee multiple complex grant funded projects.
We have an engaged Board dedicated to ensuring that our ambitions are delivered. If you are someone who likes to challenge current thinking, can motivate and influence a wide range of people, and are driven by delivering innovative work, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
Dr. Nigel Carter, OBE FRSPH BDS
